Despite increased domestic demand and higher shipping prices, international demand for corn and other crops will continue to increase, putting further loads on the nation’s transportation system.

That was the clear message at the recent 4th annual Waterways Symposium in Houston, TX. The conference, which brought together shippers, commodity groups, the federal government and environmental groups, discussed diverse yet related topics such as the value of the dollar and the growth of ethanol, according to National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Director of Production, Stewardship and Livestock Max Starbuck.
