MEXICO WON'T LIFT HFCS TAX

Mexico's Congress has approved maintaining that country's 20% tax on soft drinks containing high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) during 2006, according to The Brock Report. The vote dashed hopes that the sugar shortage caused by the impact of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma would lead to a resolution of the U.S.-Mexico trade row over HFCS this year.
