FEWER ACRES IN MATO GROSSO, BRAZIL

Nov 1, 2005 12:00 PM, Compiled By Greg Lamp

Brazil's largest soybean growing state of Mato Grosso will see a drop of at least 10% in soybean production in 2005-06 due to lower planted acreage and reduced use of fertilizers and chemicals, according to Aprosoja, an association representing 6,000 of the state's farmers. If confirmed, it would be the first time since 1998-99 that the state's soy output fell.
