Farm Equipment Exports Jump 13%

U.S. exports of ag-related machinery totaled more than $8.2 billion in 2007, an increase of more than 13% compared to the previous year, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

Farm equipment exports to South America grew 46% in 2007, with purchases totaling $689 million. Africa took delivery of $247 million worth of American-made ag equipment in 2007, a gain of 28%, and exports to Europe increased 24% and totaled $3.3 billion.

Asia bought $710 million worth of U.S. agricultural machinery, a 4% increase, while Canada's purchases of $2.1 billion represented a 6% increase.

Countries with the highest percent increase were Russia at $388 million, up 122%, and the Ukraine at $244 million, up 118%.
